Best Hiking Trails and Parks in the Red Wing Area

If you are looking for adventure and some sight seeing while in town, check out these great hikes and parks. You can see some beautiful views and enjoy some outdoor time!

Barns Bluff

2.9 Miles

Difficulty- Moderate

This trail brings you through the woods to the top of Barns Bluff where you can overlook the whole city of Red Wing and the Mississippi River. This is one of our most famous hikes!


Cannon Valley Trail

19.7 Miles

Difficulty: Easy

This trail was built on a former Chicago Great Western Railroad line that connected Red Wing, Cannon falls and Welch. You can take in a lot of scenery and peace and quiet on this trail.


Memorial Park

4.4 Miles

Difficulty: Moderate

This trail winds up on Memorial Bluff and connects the parks up there as well. You can enjoy some time in the parks, overlook Red Wing, play disk golf or just enjoy the solitude.


Hay Creek Trail

2.1 Miles

Difficulty: Easy

 This trail leads to a campground and runs along horse trails and a creek. You can stop and eat at Dressens Saloon at the campground or just enjoy the time in the woods.


Spring Creek Prairie

1.5 Miles

Difficulty: Easy

This is one of the most private and nature filled trails. You will see plenty of wildlife and be able to enjoy nature.


Frontenac State Park

13 Miles

Difficulty: Moderate

This state park provides many options for hiking with seven trail options. You can overlook Lake Pepin, walk through prairies, go by the shores of the Mississippi River or even camp at their campsites.


AP Anderson Park

Each Lap= .8 Miles

Difficulty: Easy

This park is great for doing walking loops or bringing your dog to the dog park there too. This also connects to The Cannon Valley Trail.


Baypoint Park

Each Lap= .75 Miles

Difficulty= Easy

 This walking path is right on The Mississippi River in downtown Red Wing. You can enjoy a picnic in the park or just watch the boats go by.
